Maram Abdelhamid- Founder and President

Maram Abdelhamid is the Founder and Director of Liberty and Access for All. She is a Political and Non Profit Consultant, specializing in strategic program development, government advocacy, campaigns and elections with clients like U.S Department of State, National Democratic Institute (NDI) Liberty Coalition, and Brian Moran for Governor and Creigh Deeds for Governor Campaigns. Ms. Abdelhamid has over 10 years of experience in political organizing government relations and advocacy. Abdelhamid began her career as a Legislative Assistant to Colorado State Rep Renee Sanchez. She then worked as the National Field Organizer for 21st Century Democrats, Deputy Campaign Manager for Representative Jim Moran of Virginia and served as the National Field and Political Director for Arab American Institute. Maram Abdelhamid has earned a bachelor’s degree from the University Of Denver in Political Science and Economics.

 

Keith Parsons- Board Chair 

Keith Parsons is a civil defense attorney who lives in Washington, D.C. He currently serves as Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. Keith previously was an associate at Cunningham & Associates, PLC and McKinney & Associates; PLLC. He was born and raised in a series of small rural communities in West Virginia and Virginia. He attended Virginia Tech, Rutgers School of Law-Camden, and Georgetown University Law School.

Julie Jakopic  

Julie Jakopic, founder of iLead Strategies, has been helping leaders succeed. Julie's career has taken her back and forth across the private, public and nonprofit sectors, consistently bringing her laser focus on mission driven strategic leadership and service excellence. The co-author of Planning for Results, a strategic planning tool for organizations, Julie is a nationally recognized and respected coach, facilitator and strategist known for her pragmatic optimistic approach. Before launching her own firm, iLead Strategies, Julie built and led successful teams in her work as vice president and human services practice leader at the Development Services Group and in executive positions at ICF International, The Finance Project and the National Association for State Community Services Programs (NASCSP). She was awarded the Ann Kagie National Community Services award by the National Association for State Community Services Programs and the Legislative & Public Policy Award by the Alexandria Commission for Women. She holds an MA in Sociology and a BA in Communication from the University of Maryland

David Williams

David Williams currently serves as the  President of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA).  Williams is an expert on government waste and the budget process.  His television appearances include:  “ABC News with Peter Jennings,” “Hannity and Colmes,” CNN, and Fox News.  He has also appeared on numerous local network affiliates. Williams has appeared on hundreds of radio talk shows from coast to coast, including WBZ in Boston, WGN in Chicago, KABC in Los Angeles, WCBS in New York, and WOAI in San Antonio. During his 20 years in Washington, DC, Mr. Williams has been instrumental in the development of strict criteria to define pork-barrel spending that is used by members of Congress and the media.  Williams has a Masters of Art in Political Science from Villanova University, and a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from Kutztown University.

Jose “Joe” Montano

Jose “Joe” Montano, Jr. is a member of the Governor’s Virginia Asian Advisory Board, appointed by Governor Tim Kaine. He has served as the National Training Director for Asian Pacific Islander American Vote. He has worked the last 8 years in electoral politics, including positions with the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Party of Virginia. Joe’s commitment to increasing civic participation and community empowerment is firmly rooted in the civil rights work and immigrant advocacy he conducted as a national organizer and non-profit executive with both the Filipino Civil Rights Advocates and the National Federation of Filipino American Associations. He originally hails from Norfolk, VA and is a graduate of The George Washington University.

Patty has over 9 years of web design and development experience and Ian has worked on various graphic design and marketing assignments across the last 8 years. They currently serve as the web design team for for www.libertyandaccessforall.org

 

 

 2015 Fellows 

Sierra Cato

 

Sierra Cato serves as the government relations fellow and develop assistant intern for Liberty & Access for All.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Applied Sociology from North Carolina State University where she interned at the North Carolina Office of the Governor for Governor Beverly Perdue.  Sierra also holds a Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.  During law school, she served as Senior Class Representative, Co-Chair of the Alumni Relations Committee, and member of the Black Law Students Association and International Law Society. 

 

 

Stephon D. Woods, Esq. 

 

Stephon D. Woods, Esq. Serves as the Government Relations Fellow with Liberty and Access for All. Prior to joining Liberty and Access for All, he worked with Advancement Project on the School to Prison Pipeline Campaign to end the over-criminalization of minority students in public schools across the country.  Stephon also served as a legal intern with Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL and the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights in Atlanta, GA where he helped advance student and employee civil rights by investigating claims of discrimination.  While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he served as a Congressional intern for Representative Steve Cohen (TN-09). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University College of Law.  Stephon is admitted to practice law in the state of Maryland.
